Molasses is the juice extracted from sugar cane. White sugar is the crystals produced by the refining of molasses.

Brown sugar is made by combining a small amount of molasses with white sugar (1 part molasses to 16 parts white sugar).

Brown sugar can be made by stirring, with a fork, one tablespoon of molasses into a cup of white sugar; keep mixing until the lumps are gone. (For dark brown sugar use 2 tablespoons of molasses and 1 cup of white sugar.)
